Starch occurs naturally as water-insoluble granules and is available in unlimited quantities, thus they offer a cost effective ingredient for new products or for reformulating existing products across a variety of applications.
Starch can be further hydrolyzed to form maltodextrins and glucose syrups. By hydrogenation of these products a wide range of different polyols can be formed.
